For researchers and scientists

Your research moved a field. Your petition should show how.

Publications, citations, peer review and funded work already form the core of a strong case. We help scientists, postdocs, faculty and industry researchers turn that record into clear evidence for EB-1A, EB-1B, EB-2 NIW and O-1A.

Every petition is reviewed, signed and filed by an independent licensed immigration attorney.

Your strengths

The evidence researchers already hold

Most researchers we speak with have more qualifying evidence than they think. The work is in showing what each piece proves, and to which criterion it belongs.

Publications

Peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, books and chapters establish scholarly authorship, a criterion in EB-1A, EB-1B and O-1A.

Supports: scholarly authorship

Citations

Citations show others rely on your findings. Read in context, they help prove that a contribution carries real significance in the field.

Supports: original contributions, final merits

Peer review

Reviewing manuscripts for journals and conferences, serving on program committees or examining theses counts as judging the work of others.

Supports: judging

Grants and funding

Competitive funding shows experts chose to invest in your work. It strengthens original contribution arguments and the NIW case that you are well positioned to advance it.

Supports: contributions, NIW prong two

Original contributions

A method others adopted, a dataset others use, a finding that changed practice. This is often the heart of a research petition.

Supports: original contributions of major significance

Also worth gathering

Awards, society memberships with selective admission, media coverage of your work, patents, invited talks and leading roles in labs or research groups.

Your paths

Four routes researchers commonly take

The right route depends on your goals, your employer and how your record reads against each standard. Many researchers qualify for more than one.

Combining routes is common

Researchers often hold O-1A status while a green card petition is prepared, or pursue EB-1A and EB-2 NIW in parallel. In your consultation we look at the strength of each route against your record, and your partner attorney confirms the filing strategy.

Beyond the numbers

How to show impact beyond citation counts

A citation count is a number. An officer needs a story backed by documents: what you found, who used it, and what changed as a result. Fields cite at very different rates, so a smaller number in a specialized area can still reflect major significance when it is explained well.

We build that explanation from evidence an officer can verify, then align your expert and recommendation letters with it, so every page points to the same conclusion.

  1. 1

Read the citing papers, not just the count

We pull the passages where other researchers describe your work as foundational, adopt your method or extend your results.

  2. 2

Show adoption outside your own group

Software downloads, dataset reuse, protocols in other labs, clinical guidelines, industry licensing or patents that build on your findings.

  3. 3

    Use independent voices

Letters from experts who know your work through its influence, rather than through collaboration, carry particular weight.

  4. 4

    Place your record in context

Journal standing, field-normalized comparisons, selective conference acceptance and press coverage help an officer outside your field gauge significance.

Evidence checklist

What to gather before your consultation

You do not need everything on this list. Start with what you have, and we will show you where it fits and what is worth building.

Your record

Core documents

  • Current CV with full publication list
  • Google Scholar, ORCID or Scopus profile link
  • Degree certificates and transcripts
  • Your three to five most important papers

Recognition

Standing in the field

  • Peer review invitations and confirmations
  • Awards, fellowships and their selection criteria
  • Memberships with selective admission
  • Media or trade press covering your work

Impact

Proof of influence

  • Grant awards and your role on each
  • Patents, licenses or industry adoption
  • Invited talks and keynote invitations
  • A list of experts who know your work

Gaps in the record are normal. Our profile building service helps you strengthen areas such as judging and recognition over the months before filing.

Questions

Researchers often ask

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from scientists and academics.

Do I need a high citation count to qualify?

There is no citation threshold in the regulations. Citations are one way to show significance. Officers look at the full picture: how your work was used, who relied on it and how experts describe it. A well-explained record in a low-citation field can be stronger than a large number with no context.

Does peer review count as judging?

Yes. Reviewing for journals or conferences is judging the work of others in your field. It needs to be documented, for example with invitation emails, review confirmations or a reviewer record, and it is stronger when the venues are well regarded.

What is the difference between EB-1A and EB-1B?

EB-1A lets you self-petition with no job offer, but asks for 3 of 10 criteria and evidence of sustained acclaim. EB-1B requires a U.S. employer to petition with a permanent research or tenure-track offer, plus 3 years of experience, international recognition and 2 of 6 criteria.

Can a postdoc or early career researcher qualify?

Often, yes. Seniority is not a requirement. EB-2 NIW in particular focuses on the importance of your proposed work and your ability to advance it, which suits many early career researchers. We give you an honest read of which route fits your record today.

Who writes the recommendation letters?

Letters come from real experts in your field, signed in their own name. We help you choose a balanced set of collaborators and independent experts, and prepare drafts grounded in your evidence that each signer reviews and adapts so the letter reflects their own view.

Who files my petition?

We build your profile, evidence strategy, letters and full petition. Your partner attorney, an independent licensed immigration attorney, reviews, signs and files it. See how it works.
